In our Capoeira classes children learn to improve coordination, rhythmic sense and concentration, discover martial art techniques and acrobatics, play instruments and sing, whilst exploring the joys of being active and interactive and having a lot of fun!
Age 5 to 12, each Mondays and Wednesday 4:30 to 5:20 pm
Kids Capoeira classes cover basic Capoeira techniques and music including traditional instruments and songs in Portuguese.
We use games and exercises that work both physical coordination and mental abilities. This allows the children to improve their balance and explore their capabilities and limitations; while at the same time helps them learn teamwork, discipline and independence.
In kids class musicality plays an important role as an aid in developing a child’s psychomotor abilities and is also a mechanism to release emotional tension and nervous energy.
Simple activities like dancing and clapping are rich experiences that allow the child to develop their rhythmic sense.
Taught in a friendly environment the Capoeira class work with children to build confidence and teaches them to respect other persons and cultures.
We aim to build a healthy, just, and vibrant society in which children feel connected to and responsible for their community.
"Capoeira has been a positive influence on our lives! Not only did we get fit together, we learnt to teach and learn from each other, and this makes us a stronger unit.
The boys explore their flexibility and no fear through the acrobatics and the game, and I love challenging my sense of rhythm and coordination, which has improved immensely over the years!
I can thoroughly recommend Abadá Capoeira, as a school that has professional, skilled teachers, and a great family atmosphere.
Through capoeira we learn a new language and culture. Capoeira has proved to be more than just a sport, it is an art that includes physical movement, singing, non-contact martial art, acrobatics and instrument playing. It is a complete activity for my family! " - Itta Ametista (Mosi's mom and Capoeirista).
Mosi (Escorpião Vermelho): "Capoeira has improved my stamina and coordination through the training and the playing in the roda. You get to learn to kick and defend yourself which is really cool. I learn discipline through the martial art, meet great people, have lots of fun and learn to meet my goals to be able to change belts. And you get a cool nickname!!"
"The classes at Abada Capoeira Kids are an excellent way to help build confidence for children and teach them a range of skills and activities, all of which fall under the capoeira practice and lifestyle.
The instructors are very focussed and supportive of all the kids, both as individuals and within a group dynamic. There is an amazing community spirit amongst the capoeira 'family' and we couldn't recommend this school highly enough to other parents and children.
Capoeira offers more than just physical activity, it also offers a well-rounded range of skills that takes mind, body, and spirit into account...but most of all it's both engaging and fun for the kids!" - Sasha, Mylo's Mother.
